Plate Speller — Privacy Policy

Plate Speller ("the app," "we," "us") is committed to keeping your data private and secure. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to remove it.

What we collect

When you sign in with Apple, the app stores the following on our backend (Supabase):

• A user identifier. Apple provides a unique, anonymous identifier that lets us recognize you across sessions. It is not your Apple ID or email.
• Your email address (optional). Only if you choose "Share My Email" during Sign in with Apple. If you pick "Hide My Email," we receive Apple's private relay address instead.
• Your display name (optional). Apple may provide your first and last name on your first sign-in. You can edit or remove this in Profile Settings.
• A username ("handle") you choose. Used so friends can find you.
• Your game activity. Times, skipped plates, words you submitted, and streaks for each daily challenge you complete.
• Your friends list. The unique identifiers of users you've added as friends.

We do not collect:

• Your location
• Your contacts or photos
• Your device identifiers for tracking
• Analytics for advertising or third-party purposes

How we use it

• To let you sign in and access your profile across devices.
• To show your stats, daily history, and streak.
• To let friends find you and compare times on the Friends tab.
• To revoke your Apple sign-in when you delete your account, as required by Apple.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for tracking across other apps or websites.

Where data is stored

All user data is stored in Supabase (supabase.com), a cloud database provider. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time:

1. Open the app.
2. Go to Profile → Profile Settings → Delete Account.
3. Type DELETE to confirm.

This permanently removes your profile, all your daily runs, your friendships, and your Apple sign-in connection. The deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Children's privacy

Plate Speller does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete the account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we do, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Continued use of the app after a change indicates acceptance.
